How many times can you resurface your brake rotors?

How many times can you resurface your brake rotors?
Just curious as my 98 front brake rotors needs replacing. I turned them once when I first did the LS1 brake upgrade. Is there enough meat on the rotors to turn twice? If not, whats a good cheap replacement rotor? Thanks!

The discs have a minimum allowable thickness number cast into them. You can't resurface if it will reduce the thickness to less than specified. According to my Chiltons, the 98+ minimum brake disc thickness is 1.209" for the fronts and 0.724" for the rear. But that's the same number they show for the 93-97 brakes, so I don't know how accurate it is. Chiltons isn't always the best reference. Maybe someone with a factory manual can confirm or correct.

The factory rotors were junk, don't even bother to turn them, buy a good after market product. They will be a little pricey but worth it in the long run.

I recommend no more than once, under the best of conditions, assuming a minimal cut.
Nominal thickness is 1.260", with minimum machining at 1.223", and discard of 1.209".

Your local brake guy will tell you what is acceptable, and what is not.I would just get them turned, and new brake pads, and flush the old brake fluid out.But if you can afford it,go with the bigger later model rotors.Myo2.

Replace them... I tried turning my stock ones TWICE and they just warped again within a week... Not worth the hassle.
