Used Cold air intake

i found a guy selling a used K&N intake with filter for 30 dollars. Should i be cautous about this, or does it sound like a good deal. The only info the guy gives me is its used and its been sitting in his shop, he thinks it came off a 93 camaro. that shouldn't be a problem should it. i'm very new so i'm still learning about my camaro and buying parts for it

If it looks like

it goes for about $50 new on ebay.

If it looks like...

it retails for about $250 and is a real K&N system.

Are you going to meet him or is this over the internet? For the price I would highly doubt it is a real K&N CAI.

The 93 K&N kit probably comes with a "filler piece" to make up for the gap created by the 93 not having an MAF sensor. You would just not use that piece.

I usually refer to AEM's intake setups as "hot air intakes".

A shiny metal tube with a filter stuffed in the engine bay is mainly for sound purposes, not performance. Technologically speaking it's about as advanced as using drier tube for your intake.

Most of the good CAIs for LT1s run the tube all the way to the L/F bumper area and it's sealed off from the engine bay. Moroso, K&N, and probably others make this style.

Basically where the air is coming from is the most important part of an intake.

Sorry, that is not an K&N Filtercharger. The K&N is the one shown to you by razor. It exits into the fenderwell to get cold air. The one in your pic is a cheap unit that has a K&N sticker on it and gets its air from the engine compartment.

Do these (the K&N's) work on 3.8's? Every time I see them, they just say 5.7. Is there some sort of adapter?
