Exclamation High Idle

I have a '94 camaro with a v6. Just over the last week it has started idleling really high. in park the engine sits at 2,000 rpms. when in drive it sits at 1500. it is a bit annoying as you can tell for a few reasons. Number one it is now sucking up more gas. and also when in drive and at a stop it feels like it wants to lurch forward. Also when i let off the gas the car does not slow down it seems to want to just sit at that speed. I'm not a mechanic in fact im learning as i go, but i have basic mechanic knowledge and would like to take care of this problem my self. if any of you have suggestions please let me know. Thank you. Re: High Idle

Not familiar with the V6 throttlebody, but on my LT1 when I cleaned my throttlebody my rpms would "hang". I took a Qtip and dabbed a little oil on the butterfly shaft where the shaft entered the housing and the problem was cured.

Re: High Idle

not too familiar with a v6 either but with a v8 i'd say:

could be a rip in the intake elbow, usually happens at the inlet at the bottom of the throttle body

also check to make sure that your throttle body blade(s) are closing all the way when you're off the gas, also you can move the throttle cable lever yourself and make sure the the blades aren't sticking at all, there should be zero gap between the blades and the throttle body housing.
