help, my lights aren't straight

i need to know if there is anyway to get your headlights pointed how they are suppost to be other then trial and error? mine got messed up and i dont know how to get them right again, can you turn them all the way one way, and then so many turns back? or anything like that, or am i just SOL? thanks in advance
by the way, its a 1995 transam

I always just put the car on level ground and point it at a building to aim them. The drivers side needs to be pointed slightly in and be the one that does closer distance. The reason it's pointed in slightly is so it doesn't blind incomming traffic. The passenger side needs to be the one that does the greater distance.

Not sure about the TAs, but for Camaros, each headlight has built in adjustment guides. Pop the hood and take a closer look at the headlights. You should see several "level bubbles" to help you align the left-right and tilt angles. Like Red96LT1 says, make sure you do this on a level surface...say your garage or something. I usually just adjust so that all the levels are centered, but if you want to be technical, you can reference the Chilton book for a detailed setup....how far to park from a wall, how high are the beams, etc.
