heater core or ?

on my way home today noticed smoke behind car, 94 z28 no mods. pulled over and had fluid all over but couldnt determine what it was, but there was alot, wasnt low on oil or trans fluid. only thing that was very low was coolant, coolant was brownish should have been flushed, anyway it is all over and really leaked bad at higher speed which is odd. nothing on floor inside yet this week I noticed my windows fogging a bit I had to wipe the windshield off this week thought it was strange. only question now is what would make it blow all over the undercarriage. have not got under there yet. any help on this would be great. Allen

Does it smell like anti-freeze? Believe me if you busted a coolant line, or a heater core, you could smell it really strong.

Where do you consider "all over" all over the top of the engine, or what, does it appear to be in any concentrated area more so then other places?

EDIT: protect that opti! lol

none on the engine all from the back of the engine and back almost covering the center section about 2 feet wide to the back off the car almost seems the most by the trans pan and flywheel inspection cover

You should be able to tell what kind of "fluid" it is. Sounds like you aren't even sure. Makes it almost impossible for anyone to tell you where its coming from. Oil and trans fluid are a lot different than coolant in feel and smell, and often in color. Does a puddle form under the car when its sitting? Are there visible drips, or just a wet stain? What color was the smoke you saw behind the car? By "down the middle" do you mean the middle of the undercarriage - i.e. near the drivesahft tunnel?

Where did you check the coolant level? In the reservoir, or in the radiator? Did your low coolant light come on? Did you check the heater hoses where they attach to the heater core pipes, on the firewall?

at first I could not tell, it is antifreeze sorry I did not make that clearer, the majority of it was around the trans pan and flywheel inspection cover and back. exhaust trans mount ect. Iwill get under there tonight and see and also pressure test the system. Allen

Seriously, you can smell anti-freeze heavily. I was quite surprised when you said it was anti-freeze.
