fule gage!!

i think my gas gage is messed up!!!,,On idle ("park" cold start) the gage was bouncine from full to half a tank really fast...when i know for sure it was 1/4 when i parked it the day before...is somthing wrong?

its a 2000 Z28,,i just bought it on halloween,,as far as im aware its all stock.

were do i find the sender?,,,would it be better to take it to chevy?

The level sending unit for the fuel gauge is attached to the fuel pump support bracket in the fuel tank. You need to drop the fuel tank, or you need to cut an access hatch in the package shelf to access the fuel gauge sender.

I have a '99 SS, and I had a similar issue. On "cold" start-ups, the gauge needles would all swing far to the right, then settle into their normal places.

There is a TSB for it; 99-08-49-009 P/N 16232961

My dealer ordered me a new gauge cluster, reprogrammed it, and reinstalled it.

Sounds like what you may have happening?
