Dumb question bout starter......
Ok ive gotten the starter all the way loose, but is it really required to move the exhaust?? Cant seem to slide past it, and all my pipes are rustier than ****. Recommendations??????

It makes it harder for anyone to give a recommendation when no information about the car you are working on is given.

Sounds like an LT1. You will most likely have to drop the y pipe. You can try using a prybar to move it to the side more.

It may be necessary to disconnect the exhaust crossover pipe from the manifolds in order to gain better access to the starter.
