Learn what you now have, before going out to buy something else.

Yes, its called rev matching.

Lets say you come to a turn, you want to down shift from 3rd to 2nd (as to be in a lower gear with more torque to pull you out of the turn) if you just shift into second, the car is gonna jerk and the rpm's are gonna rise very suddenly because when you go into a lower gear, the engine has to spin faster to go the same speed.
To avoid jerking, before shifting into the lower gear (while the clutch is in) you have to increase your rpm's to what it will be at when you shift into the lower gear. You will know what rpm with experience/practice. Doing this will result in a smooth transition and being in the right gear will prevent from boggin down while trying to accelerate out of the turn.

There is way to much driving techniques to be learned than can be discussed in a thread, practice makes perfect. You could also save up for a performance driving class.

wow thanks alot, i figured that reving up the engine when down shifting would be a big no no. i will def practice that this weekend. and i am looking into driving schools, just need to save up a little more money.

i was gonna create a new thread for this, but everyone responding to this has been so helpful i will just keep it on this one.

i am looking at parts (i got a portion of my army signing bonus this week and am ready spend it haha).

as i mentioned above i am looking at getting 4.11 rear diff gears. i was looking at summit and they have a few listed. above each is info such as {GM 12-bolt "C" axle, 8.875" 1.625" diameter pinion} is all this to make sure the gears fit my rear diff? if so how do i know what type fits my car?

also they have street and drag. how much a difference is there between the two. if i go with the street to save money will i be loosing that much compared to if i went with the drag?

and finally is it worth the money to get an electric fuel pump? will it make that much of a difference? i am debating between getting an elec pump or spending that money on a larger carb (750 or 850). which would be a better idea do you all think?

thanks for all the help

Don't know about sizes, but I say go with the street.
EWP is good for about 6-7 rwhp.
