Dimmer Switch

I tried searching for this and I didn't see what I was looking for...My brights have suddenly decided to turn on by themselves along with the dims. I tried turning them off, but I cant, there is not a clicking noise, so I figured it was the dimmer switch. Now to my question, Is there anyway to swap out the dimmer switch without tearing the steering column completely apart?

Re: Dimmer Switch

Yeah the dimmer switch isn't actually in the column its at the base of it right above the brake pedal. There's a rod that runs down from the turn signal lever to the dimmer switch. If there's no click the rod might have come out.

I agree that the actuator rod is likely the problem. It has either come out as mentioned above, or it needs to be bent a little to work right. In any event, it looks like you'll need to get under the dash and look at the way the rod is seated in the dimmer switch.
