Did not add fuel stabilizer when I put her away for winter... consequences?

Hello,

When I put my car away for winter I did not add fuel stabilizer to the gas, could there be any effects on my fuel system? The car has been sitting for 5-6 months.

Thanks in advance.

Everything should be alright. It hasn't been sitting that long really. I wouldn't let the car sit for more than a year or so without adding some stabilizer though. My car sits through the winter and I've never had any problems.

Should be fine, I've never added anything to my Camaro when I store it in the winter. Also when I crashed my beater car I let it sit in the driveway for about 10 months before getting around to repairing it. After all was said and done it still ran like a champ.

Thanks alot.

Reason I ask is because someone was telling me if I didn't do it then there was a chance that some of the gas starts to "gum" and there's a chance that it could clog the fuel lines, but I guess that's only if the car has been sitting for a very long time.

if it has gummed up or you think it is gummed up, if it isn't too bad you can still use the stabilizer and it may act like a cleaner. A buddy of mine uses it in his old outboard and he says he runs it most of the time to keep the old girl alive, thing is like 40 years old. He said it was runny $hitty and a guy told him to to this and now he swears by it.

Thanks! I'll be sure to keep that in mind when I take the car out next month.

My dad gave me a 1982 olds to drive for the winter, it had been sitting since 95, with no stabalizer. It ran fine.

It'll be fine. You might wanna add some of that STP fuel injector cleaner or something though, just for good measure.
