Chevy put about 100 LT-4 engines into the SS 30th Anny Cars in 97. Some 97 Firehawks got them as well. These are collector cars and demand top dollar.

You could, until recently, purchase the LT-4 upgrade package for your plain jane LT-1. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong but the kit included a new cam, heads, intake and supporting mods. The only thing it lacked was the Balanced and Blueprinted 4 bolt main block. For the money there were much better Heads and Camshaft packages available in the aftermarket that made more power.

Yes there were 100 LT4s like corp said. No you will never find one for $7,000 unless it's twisted around a tree.

Not really worth it anyway.. they put out an honest 330 fwhp, a regular LT1 will give you just about 305.

My 94 has been my daily driver for over eleven years. Currently has 224,000 miles with no major mechanical problems.

Re: Common 4th Gen Problems

I am not looking to get one i just wanted to know, I want a 96-97 Z28 under 80,000 Miles M6, And i don't want it in a ugly color, so it will be hard as hell to find what i want, has to be around 7,000 too maybe up to 10,000.... This is harder then i thought because i am worried about getting a peice of ****... I want a test drive i want to look under it, i mean this is almost not realistic so I Don't know when i will get this yet i just started saving. Thanks for the info Anything someone wants to add go ahead.

I'm pretty sure that's correct.

Re: Common 4th Gen Problems

There are quite a few LT4 pieces that were not included in the "LT4 conversion package". I serioulsy doubt anyone really wanted the cambered (positive-twist) piston rings:

Re: Common 4th Gen Problems

Ok i just saw a video of a camaro doing some donuts and the title of the vid is blowing the bottom end of an LT1.... There isn't a rev limiter on these stock? I wouldn't know it sounds like a stupid question but do they? what if they are M6 cars? Just wondering... the video is on this site. You do hear the car reving High...and in the end the exhaust shoots some flames or something and it ends... Thanks just wondering

There is a factory rev limiter on ALL 4th Gens. The one in the M6 cars, at least for the LT1's is set at 5,886rpm in 1st gear and 5,805rpm in all other gears. It is very easy to reprogram the rev limiter to higher values, making it as easy for idiots to "blow the bottom end".

So... If i had a stock Z28 that had the rev limiter and was in 1st and did a burnout letting it hit the highest revs it could, what does it hurt in the car? The engine? Just wondering thanks

Yes in theory the factory set rev limiter should save you from wrecking your engine. It is still possible to ruin the motor without pinning the Tach though. If you dont want expensive repairs, dont pound on the car every time you get into it.

If you did that it wouldnt be cool plus everyone would think you were a retard lol, just would put unnecisary stress on your clutch and your motor, the stock revlimiter isnt as forgiving as alot of people thinks.

Most of the a4 cars will shift out of first on there own regaurdless, but i see your wanting a M6

My opinion for you is to find a car you like and go with it,
ive been in the f-body game for a while now and had a 94 to begin with, this time i chose a 93 over a newer style lt1, theres pro's and con's of any year,
i wouldnt worry about the year of the car and find one that you like.

So many harsh harsh words about the 93, i sence some jealousy
