Re: capacitors on door locks
I noticed that the door locks on my '96 were getting sorta lame toward the end, just a lazy "ka . . . chunk" when I pressed the unlock button on the fob. However on my '02, the locks are a sharp "ka*****!" with every button press. You might want to look into what design change caused the difference in the lock action between the III and IV generations.
Re: capacitors on door locks
If you need more power, then one of 2 things is happening. First, the linkages need lubrication and attention. Second, the solenoids are getting old and weak. You can try to crutch it with your mod, but it's not addressing the root cause. Fixing the root cause is usually best unless you like fixing it twice. Good luck either way!
Re: capacitors on door locks
I lubed the linkage a year ago when I put them in. Was thinking of replacing the solidoids with stronger aftermarket one lader on down the road. Got to many things I want more right now. Caps are realy cheap, so I might try to get me by for a while. I let you all know if works out as a good cheap n easy temp fix.
Thanks
