Car is completely original as far as I know. My cousin gave it to me and the last time he tried to start it, it fired right up. That was about a year ago though. He lost the key, that's why I replaced the ignition lock.

Yes, an auto parts store can check the starter.

You just join the connector terminals with a piece of wire to jump the clutch switch.

have you checked the fuel pump? it could be trying to pump fuel, but failing, and that could cause the noise at the carb, and the no start situation.

it could cause the noise, but he's having a no crank situation. unless it's fuel locked, which i highly doubt, he has other problems.

when was the last time the car ran? did it run before you put the key switch in? did it sit for a long time?

The Camaro White Book also states that "pass-key" was first used on the Camaro in 1989. It was first used on the Corvettes starting in 1986.

Re: Can't find VATS wire!

It ran about 7-8 months ago before my cousin lost the key. So I had no way of testing it with the old igniting switch.

Re: Can't find VATS wire!

so it has not been turned over in more than a year if i understand that correctly. make sure you can turn the engine over by hand. if it sat outside it is possible that it could be siezed, but very unlikely. you should be able to use a socket and ratchet or wrench on the crank pulley to turn it over. if it does you need to find a way to check the starter. it may be a little nerve wracking to jump relays and such if you've never done it before, but all it takes is one time to learn how easy it is and you'll be over that fear soon. Shoebox told you how to do it.
