I got this mechanic friend who wants to hook me up with a 502 cam for my firebird, but 2 of my other mechanic friends say my engine is already broken in with the 430 I have and that I would basically blow it up in a matter of months if I swapped them out. Would I have to get an engine rebuild to move up cam sizes?

 

Absolutely not. You may need to upgrade springs and such though.

 

thanks. what specifically would I have to upgrade? they said it would blow because my engine has quite a few miles on it, that and one of them blew up his 383 after he put a bigger cam in it.

 

Might want to add a "signature" with basic data about your car - year, model, engine, tranny and any major mods. That way, people can give you more specific help.
