Anyone here TOWING there CAMARO WITH a Ranger??

Hey Fbods wassup. I was just wondering. MY Camaro is NOT OPERATIONAL Right now. And im moving out of my house in about three weeks. I have a Lifted Ranger 2001 3.0V6. Mt camari is a 4th Gen 94. MY question is Do any of you TOW your Camaro with a RANGER like mine? I saw a guy at the races Tow is Camaro with a Chevy S-10 I asked him was he having any problems He said Not at all. So I was thinking if that S-ten can pull it then I should be OK
Thanks

That S-10 might of had a 4.3 in it and those things are strong. But i dont see a problem towing your camaro with your ranger. Just stay away from steep hills. That will work your truck to death.

the s10 could have had the 4.3L v6 which was a stout engine for a six.

how far do you have to take it?
what kind of trailer?

You should be fine as long as your taking it a long distance.

Well im not taking it far at all. Just 4-6 miles. Its going to my Mothers in Laws house. As far as the trailer. I was going to rent one from Uhaul. I think there like 50 bucks to rent. NO Biggie. Now I would like to install a hitch. So were could I get a nice hitch to handle a 3500+ car?

your ranger should pull it fine, try to keep the spoeed down, smaller trucks don't seem to control a trailer as well at high speed,

when you get the trailer at uhaul, lie about what you are putting on it, thet won't rent to you if you say you are towing a camaro with a ranger, tell them you are towing something light, dune buggy or something...

Exactly.

FWIW, I towed a '71 bird with an '01 Blazer 4.3/5 speed.
allmost 700 miles. I was really carefull, and kept the speed down. It did fine. I imagine you will have no problems. 5 miles is nothing. Just stay slower and remember it will take longer to stop.

My buddy has an S-10 pick em up (with 4.3) and tows his Mustang with it. It accelerates pretty slowly, but other than that it's no problem.

Your going to need a frame mounted Class 3 hitch, the bumper will not do for that kind of load, Reese, Draw tite, hidden hitch (last choice) are a few of the quality hitches you could get.

U-Haul maybe? I used their dolly's to tow my 89 firebird home.

Re: Anyone here TOWING there CAMARO WITH a Ranger??

Imo, you'd probably be better off getting it towed especially if you're gonna have to buy a hitch. You're looking at spending probly a hundred when you figure in the cost of the dolly + the hitch, which should be more than a towing bill of such a distance. But thats on if you plan on moving it once. Otherwise, make sure you get a Frame-mounted hitch and dont go over 40mph, because you should have plenty of power to move the weight but stopping it is going to be your main concern.

Also, avoid using Overdrive when towing, just keep it in drive and you should be fine.
