All motor Lt1 for 450hp

Hey Guys. I have a 95 Z28. 130,000 miles. I have cold air, Long tube headers, 52 throttle body, Flowmaster (no cats). Id love to hit between 400-500 hp all motor if possible. Just plan for it to be a week-end Car. With the mileage, Will changing the Cam and getting the heads done be a bad move? And would I be anywhere close to 400hp/ Also not sure If I need a tune now, OF if I should wait until afterwards. Thank you. Looking for Someone to do it in the Ventura County Area or Loa Angeles

Are you looking at 400-500 HP at the flywheel, or at the rear wheels?

Here's an example of the head porting/matching cam combo's that can be accomplished at reasonable cost:

Advanced Induction - LTx Cylinder Heads

A tune now will help. Even a totally stock engine will pick up 10-20 HP with a mail order tune. But after heads/cam it’s absolutely necessary. Whether it's a good idea to build on a 130K mile engine depends on how well it's been taken care of. Best thing to do might be a 355ci rebuild/upgrade.

And I'm sure you are aware of the problems with doing any sort of major modifications in California. I'm surprised you got away with the long tubes.

Thank Fred. To the wheels would be nice. Ill check on the rebuild. Ill probably Im sure Ill end up doing it Slowly but Surely. And as far as Cali goes, it sucks. But fortunately, I have a few friends. Im not too worried about restrictions right now. And Like I said I really dont plan to drive it very often. Just my first little project

500 HP at the rear wheels means 575 to 600 HP at the flywheel, depending on your transmission (manual or auto?). That's a challenge with ported stock heads on a street driven car. But it can be done. Check the Advanced Induction “Rick Abare” stock LT1 heads..... 530 rwHP.

Advanced Induction - 200cc LT1 Competition Head Package

Note that your heads have to have specific GM casting numbers to be able to do the extensive porting work required.

Ai takes too long to do anything and don't love LT1s that much. Go with LE Trick Flow heads and have him do your intake and cam. He's great do deal with.
