Hey everyone looking for some details, sound files,or any pics of the factory single in, single out Camaro SS or Trans am WS6 exhuast. My buddy is looking for a new cat-back for his mild bolt- on 98 ls1 camaro. It has hooker long tubes and no cats. If any one who has this setup can help, much thanks Nasty

Here is the GM Factory part number 10436321

Actually that exhaust was pretty common on SS cars. I believe it was the best flowing factory exhaust they put on there. I believe the flow #'s were actually pretty good. As far as calling it rare, well its rare to see one still since most people usually convert over to the dual exit.

They had an assortment of different systems on those cars!
96/97 had the TOTL was that any good?
98 had the single big pipe
99+had the 2 seperate pipes

and then their was the SLP systems you could option.

Which was the best and sounded the best?

IMO, the 2otl from 96 is the best sounding exhaust out there (97 had the cone of silence)

I dont believe you could get a SLP catback in 98, I thought the d/d came out in 99/00 and 01/2 got the cme.

Re: 1998 Rare Single Exit Factory Exhuast

The single exit was only made for a few month in MY 1998. It was a better flowing, better sounding muffer, the overall system weighed less and it cost less than the dual exit muffler. Why would GM go back? Simple marketing decision. The T/As had two cutouts in the rear bumper fascia and they didn't like how it looked to have only one pipe. Engineering made the decision to go to the single in the first place, but marketing forced the move back. The single exit was 5-10 hp better than the crossflow muffler and it cost less. GM paid for the switch back even though they had to take a hit on tooling and piece price.
