1995 Camaro z28 A4
Hi there I have a 1995 camaro z28 that I’ve owned since 2014 and it’s my daily driver. It’s got 156k miles on it and it’s an auto with long tube headers and off-road y pipe and no egr or smog pump. The guy I bought it from wrecked his old one and bought this car as a body and swapped everything over. When I got this car the body had 117k on it. I have no real way of knowing how many miles are actually on the motor or tranny. The tranny shifts firm and a little rough in 1-2 gear but no slipping or anything like that. Interior is in ok shape as well. I was just wondering what the practicality of building this car would be. From the transmission to the engine. It runs great doesn’t knock and I’ve taken good care of the car. I was wondering how much longer it will last? Ever since I’ve owned it I haven’t felt any loss of power over the years and the engine keeps on purring. On average how long does the lt1 last? I don’t race this car as it’s my daily driver and I don’t want to dump a ton of more money into it if it won’t be worth anything in the long run. I love my car and it’s never left me stranded. It’s also got the original optispark in it and I haven’t changed it or anything. Sorry for the long read I’m just wondering how long these motors and trannys last and when I should expect to shell out a lot of cash for a rebuild if it comes to that. It’s also got stock 2.73 gears. Thanks for any input.

They have been known to go 200k with proper maintenance (everybody’s idea of proper maintenance varies). As far as “is it worth it” thats a question only you can answer. Is it worth it to flip the car? No. Is it worth it to drive it 5-10 years? Very possible.
Re: 1995 Camaro z28 A4
A lot depends on where the vehicle has spent its life. 4th Gen's daily driven in the “snow belt” can be rotted beyond repair at a reasonable cost. The engines seem to have amazing longevity.

The car has spent its life in Oregon where we don’t salt the roads. As I am in the military now I drove it down to AZ where I am stationed so it definitely does not see any snow. On the way down going 80 on the highway I got 27mpg if you can believe that. It’s a great car and I want to keep it but as you all may know “the wife” thinks it’s an old turd and wants a new car. But she doesn’t drive it. It’s my car. Just wish it was a manual.
