Zero fuel pressure
Zero fuel pressure
I'm getting zero puel pressure to the engine. when i turn the key the pump starts then shuts off like it should. pulled the filter fitting off and gas came out of the tank side and the engine side, but not much from the engine side.
I replaced the filter, pump and tank last year. few thousand miles at the most since then. was acting fine, pulled it out of the garage one day got to the street then it shut down on me, hasnt started since.
this is my 1997 SS M6 car. has agressive cam stock bottom end and heads. mostly every bolt on, LTs,ORY...
checked the relay, works fine. the fuel line is clean all the way up, no external leaks. no gas smell. and i had just put in a good amount of gas.
what else could i check before spending money or dropping the tank again?

Did you try powering the pump directly with 12V power, using the fuel pump prime connector near the PCM? That bypasses the PCM permit and the relay.

You do have a fuel pressure test gauge that depresses the Schrader valve core????

have not tried direct power. and yes i tested with a pressure gauge up front behind the fuel rails. my 96 gets perfect pressure, so i know my gauge works and im doing it right. i had swapped out relays between my 2 cars and they both work. I was told the pump will prime until it has the correct pressure then stops. is that true, or will it just prime for a specific time? im thinking my hose in the tank came off or something. but want to make sure before i drop the tank again.
i hear it kick on each time i turn the key. i thought maybe my hose in the tank came undone from the pump. guess ill be getting into the tank to find out. everything else works as normal.
how much damage can be done to the engine tring to start it so many time with no gas? hope i didnt hurt anything cranking it over with no real oil pressure building
