Unhappy Weird p1351 problem no start without jumper wire!

I just bought a 1997 Trans am LT1 got it home and noticed a small red jumper wire going from the coil to the under hood fuse box. I unplugged it to see what it was and the car will not start without it! Also have code P1351 ignition voltage high (obvioulsy the jumper from the coil setting code) The guy I bought it from just put in a new opti and coil. The car does have a Viper alarm system but I think it has been disabled, and the car started fine without the jumper before he changed the opti n coil. Any ideas on what the issue might be? I DO NOT want to run this car with a jumper wire from the coil to fuse box. Any and all help is very appreciated

The stock wiring to supply 12V to pin A on the coil is a pink wire from Fuse #11 in the underhood convenience box. Is that where he hooked the red wire to? If so, appears there is a problem with the pink wire, and he had to run the red wire in parallel. The pink wire is routed through pin G in connector C100, so that might be where the break is located.

Shoebox has the wiring diagram for the 96/97 ignition system:

Also has the harness connector pin-outs:

P1351 sets when the ignition control circuit is "open". Since the IC module gets its 12V power from the same pink wire as the coil, it makes sense that it would set with the red wire removed, and the pink wire not supplying 12V.

Thank you for the info. Is the jumper wire going to hurt anything? Such as fry the coil or is it just going to set the code and engine light? I just do not want to burn anything up especially the opti, those are not fun to change lol. Also went out and looked and he had it to fuse #10 not #11 I switched the wire for now to 11.
