Rough time starting and running poor.
I have a 95 TA that has an Accel opti spark that is less than a year old. I have gone through all of the testing proceudres to rule out the coil, icm, fuel pump and all that good stuff. i really dont think the opti is bad because im getting good spark, but the car just does not want to start for crap. When i turn it over it just keeps turning like the timming is way to advanced then it will fire only to shut right back off unless i keep my foot on the gas. If i can keep it running it runs extremly rough so i keep it at about 3500rpm and after 20 or 30 seconds it frees iteslf up and seems like whatever was holding it back corrected itslef. It is throwing a code but i still havent gotten my aldl cable in yet so i cant read it, but i was wondering if anyone had any suggestions? it really seems like the timming is just all out of wack but i just dont know anymore maybe a bad computer? Thankyou
If it clears after 30 seconds, I doubt timing is the cause, if it's flooded (black smoke, rich exhaust) will clear up once the engine catches up. It could be an injector dripping fuel when the engine is off. Or it could be a bad sensor (TPS). If it's throwing a code ya really need to get it scanned before you throw money at it.. Be-aware you're '95 is an OBD1 PCM with an OBD2 ALDL cable, so the guys at speedy scan will be utterly confused, probably stick an OBD2 scanner on it, and tell you the PCM can not be read, OR give you some erroneous code failure. The '94 and '95 f-Body OBD1 PCM's have flash memory and have to be read with and intelligent scanner or software unique to those years only. Not many shops have this equipment.. Lots of us purchase our own cables and laptop S/W for this reason.

I have the cable and i saw that it was getting the low resolution code, so i replaced the opti which eliminated the code but the car was still having the same issues. After not messing with it for a couple of days i hooked the laptop back up to it and sure enough the low resolution code came up again. I have already replaced my opti harness, this problem is really stumping me. Im thinking maybe its a bad computer? or some other problem further along in the wiring harness.
check your pigtails going to coil and icm there in a bad location and tend to break inside the insulation try to jiggle wires while running if it shuts off the wire you touched is the culprit.hope this helps.
