Regulator question

ok, heres my ordeal, i replaced my stock pump with a 110 gph mechanical pump on my 84 z28 (the stock pump had a return line on the pump, the new one does not). im getting 8.5 psi through this new pump with no regulator, it runs REALLY rich, and when i shut it off the barrels fill up with fuel, like on top of the throttle blades inside the carb (bad, i know), so its obviously pushing way too much pressure

so heres my question, do i need a regulator with a return line? or if i get a regulator and set the pressure to a lower setting will it still be pushing too much fuel through?

the motor is a 355 with a 725 road demon jr carb, makes around 300 rwhp NA and has a 125 shot on top of that, what should my pressure be set at?
