Question Slushbox techniques

The only time I've had my car at the track is for a bracket race. All I did was put the car in drive and hit it. Cut a .507 light and 2.073 60'. I was hitting 13.7 and 13.6 all day and picking up speed as the air got better. Fastest trap speed was 101.42 mph, 82.33mph at 1/8. The car stock aside from K&N and had all the equipment in it (spare, jack, etc...)
The question is: Do you A4 drivers out there ever shift into overdrive at some point down the track. The pedal is to the floor the whole time, so it might not make a difference. I never tried anything different because I wanted the car to be as consistent as possible. Upshifting is just one more variable. Leaving it in D performed beautifully. I was easily able to catch my opponent and regulate my speed in order not to "breakout." I ran within .009 sec of my dial time. Now I'm just wondering if that extra gear would make a lower time or higher trap speed. By the way, I don't run through the gears manually. Everyone I know of that does that runs slower. The 4L60E shifts better than I could anyway.
