Angry optisensor going?

Hello, can any one give me a good description of the symptoms of a failing optisensor? Do they just go or is it a intermiten type of problem? My Gf's 96 z28 has a speratic problem where it will sputter and have now power throw acceleration, but if she puts her foot in to it, it seems to be fine. Put a code reader on it and nothing. We replaced the computer earlyier this year. I work at an autoparts store and no one not even the dealer can give me a defeant answer. Any info would be greatly appreatiated.

The road to opti-land lies in the LT1 forum. We have COP technology in here.

It is an intermittent problem, and then they just go. I had this happen to me twice. It would run fine, then sometimes it would sputter or miss. Another thing mine did on its way out was it would make the tach needle jump for no reason. I would say its time to replace it. It's not that hard, there are a few writeups in the LT1 tech section. You might want to replace the water pump too, and get new plugs and wires since it will be apart.

If you do this, do it before putting the new opti on.

He has to do it at the same time? You can't get the opti off without removing the water pump. I was just saying while it is off you should replace it with a new one.

Since he already had a thread going in LT1/LT4 Engine Tech, let's kill this one.

Suggestion to "xzodion" - post a topic only once, and in the correct forum.
