Need some help with decideing what to do with the opit prob.
My wp went out and the last time i moved it into the garage coolant leaked onto it and starting it after it was a little hot it gave me a hard start and also gave a SES light. I'm thinking about goin ahead and changing the opti so i don't have to take everything off again to change it out if it's actually shorted out.
Heres the options:
1) Change the entire optispark unit ($250 from gmpartsdirect)
2) Change the cap/rotor only with the MSD cap/rotor and hope the optisensor is still good ($150 thunderracing)
3) Cross my fingers and leave it on and hope it's not messed up (suprisingly $0)
Other ignition options (delteq, ltcc, etc) are not available due to student budget.

I got the wp off and the radiator fans off. Is it ok to put the car into the "on" but not crank it to see what the code was?

Yeah, you will have other codes will be set because of the things that right unplugged. Just reset the ECM after you get everything back together.
