Opti Question

I have a question about what needs to be changed if water or moisture got into my opti. Is the distributor or cap going to have to be changed?

Re: Opti Question

The only thing that could be damaged by moisture is the optical sensor. The rest can be cleaned or dried out. If the optical sensor is damaged, you'll need a new opti. The sensor is not sold separately.

Re: Opti Question

My original Opti was so full of rust at about 50K miles that it clogged the optical LEDs/receptors. The stamped metal "divider" between the cap/rotor and the optical sensor, and the rotating element that the optical wheel and the rotor bolted to were both completely covered with rust. The bearing also appears to be rusting, and very hard to turn.
