Not getting fuel...

Hey guys I have been working on my 1997 3.8V6 Camaro for about 2 weeks now and I am at a dead end. The fuel pump does not prime when I turn the key. The pump works the relay is working and everything I can think of. I have jumped the pump so that i could start it and get it moved somewhere easier to work on it but it is not getting any fuel. the lines are clean the pump is pumping but there is no fuel being injected. I have checked the injectors and the wires everything seems to be in working order... Any ideas?

If no fuel is coming out, how do you know the pump is good?

Have you checked the fuel lines for kinks? The fuel filter for clogs?

Re: Not getting fuel...

We wired the pump at the relay to cut on to check it before we dropped the tank and put a new one. Cut right on. It won't prime when I turn key but it does pump fuel we checked for kinks by uunhooking the line at the rail and we are getting gas. Pulled a few injectors off and they seem to be fine.

Re: Not getting fuel...

It's possible there is a problem with the "SECURITY" system. The body control module (BCM) has to send a "fuel enable signal" to the PCM, to allow the fuel pump to operate. If the PCM is not receiving that signal, it will set trouble code P1626. This code does NOT turn on the SES light, so you have to scan the PCM to see if that is the source of the problem.

I'm assuming from your description of the problem that when you turn the key to "start" the starter engages. If that does not happen, the "SECURITY" light should be on, indicating a problem with the resistor in the key, or the ignition switch contacts.

Re: Not getting fuel...

The car turns over and everything. The security light has been on since I bought the car from the previous owner and I have never had a problem. Just haven't had the time to figure out how to fix that part. We can jump the pump and send power to it hear it click on and we know fuel is pumping through the lines. But thanks we will check the BCM and see what happens
