local shop wants $500

local shop wants $500

to install racetronix wahlbro 255 & install a line lock. he says that the rear end has to be removed. sounds fishy to me, what do you guys think?

To correctly install a fuel pump, you have to pull the rear section of the exhaust, drop the rear axle assembly, and pull the tank. The alternative is to cut a "hatch" in the rear package shelf, as outlined in the "Sticky" at the top of the forum topic listing page.

Does the price include parts?

Not fishy per se. What is his labor rate? It's close to an all day job, in my "book". Six hours time around here is about $500, but labor rates vary widely in different areas or even in the same area.

Plus the Line Lock can be a bit of a hassle, depending on whether the shop has to make up the new lines, or whether they come with the Line Lock kit.

the price does not include parts, i already have the parts.

if your car is a convertible it will be a PIA pulling it from the top
