Question How to install racetronix wiring harness?

For some reason it does not come with directions on how to hook up the wiring harness so i have no clue what to do. theres some stuff that plugs into the plugs already there but there are extra plugs that dont seem to fit anywhere. I know some how you have to connect directly to the battery or alternator.

car is in sig

I think those extra plugs are for a voltage booster such as the Kenne Bell. I bet you can call who you purchased it from they might be able to help.

Ah so you're not the only 1 of many that didn't receive directions that I've read about even though I found a post with racetronix swearing they include instructions with every package... That and I haven't had my instructions emailed to me yet and I requested them Thursday. It's not a biggie, wasn't that hard to figure out, just like to know what I'm looking at ahead of time. But I have a 97 and so I can't say for certain for your 98.

I got instructions with mine.

the main heavy wire hooks to the alternator or battery positive.
then you unplug the the fuel pump at the tank and plug the Racetronics harness to the pump and the factory harness, mount the relay and your done.

I looked up some photos on Racetronix's website when I did mine. All of the directions were on there as well.

Ditto on the install pics on racetronixs site. Make sure the ground @ the relay / brake hose mount is clean and don't forget to coat it in dielectric grease.

It's been awhile since I have done this, but I remember having to rewire 1 wire on the pump. They gave me a paper clip, to change the pin location on the plug. I don't remember which one though, perhaps this will jar the memory of someone else who can remember.

i already put my tank back in and am almost done putting the rear back together. I plugged the factory harness back into the fuel pump at the tank so now am i going to have to take it all apart again to switch some wires?

will there be anyway to lower the tank enough without taking the rear end apart to switch the wires?

There's a contridiction with using that picture...

This was the harness I got (listed on the same page). Notice it's not the same type of plug.
Harness
So you can't simply base it off the pictures since theres appearantly two harnesses. At first I didn't know if I got the right harness or not or if its because of the certain package I ordered. Wasn't hard to figure out but would have been nice to know in advance in case it was the wrong harness entirely. I had to remove all the pins from the factory plug and put them in the connections they supplied. Wasn't exactly "plug and play" as advertised.

jeffcamaro2007,
No you won't have to lower the tank again.

can i run the wires up to the alternator the exact route that the fuel lines go? The lines get pretty close to the exhaust so will it still be ok to run the wiring there?

I personally ran mine on the passenger side of the vehicle. I crossed above the rear end and behind the heat shield then I routed it up along my subframe connectors and tucked em up good and up to the alternator from there.
