fuel pump

I have what I think is a fuel pump going bad. I was told that you can cut a hole out of the back of your camaro ( the trunk ) and the fuel pump can be changed from there. Or is the only other way is to drop the exhaust down and the fuel tank to change. Is there any better ways to change. Also my car is stock. I was wandering should I use the stock fuel pump or is there a better one I should use.

If you have a 4th Gen, there's a lot of posts on this topic, I suggest you use the search function.

An aftermarket pump like the Racetronix setup will probably cost less than one from GM.

Do a search for the "trapdoor method" you should find plenty of posts going over in detail the procedure to chop an access hole.

if you are too nervous about cutting a hole with the tank right there, (dont want to ruin the lines) you can always drop the rear and cut a hatch for future upgrades/replacement with the rear out.

Thats actually not a bad idea considering Walbro/Racetronix recommends you clean the fuel tank prior to installing the new pump to avoid any potential of premature failure. So drop the tank, clean it out, install the new pump, then make the access hole for future access.
