Can someone please help?!?! URGENT
Can someone please help?!?! URGENT
Im sure ur thinking oh not another opti question but i need to be sure thats its the opti that is the problem for i really dont have another car nor i do have money to be buying a bunch of new parts
Car has 110,XXX on it.
I did have a coolant leak around 94-96,XXX miles.
Car shutters a tad well i let it role at an idle.
The the past couple months the start ups have been kinda rough and weak and are worse when the weather is cold (35 degree Fahrenheit).
After the car was was at running temp (180) it would start up fine.
Just tonight i started it up after it sitting for a week and the start up was weak and rough. i went to my house came out side, went to start it up and...CLICK CLICK CLICK CLICK...battery has enough juice..i even tried jumping it to see it the battery was the problem.
Please, if someone can verify my diagnosis that would be great! I NEED my car.. thanks

Re: Can someone please help?!?! URGENT
If I understand your description, on a cold day with a cold engine, the starter just clicked, did not crank the engine. That would not be caused by a problem with the Opti. That's a problem with the starter drawing too many amps, or the battery not being able to supply adequate amps. Did you check the battery terminals for corrosion, and the wires for corroded or broken strands?
How did you determine the "battery has enough juice"? What did the dash volt meter read when you were trying to start the engine, and it just clicked?

Re: Can someone please help?!?! URGENT
Click, click, click is a dead battery or battery cable connections are loose. When you do get it running again, make sure the alternator output is good. It may be why the battery is dead.
Re: Can someone please help?!?! URGENT
its a new ACDelco battery as of May of this year. The dash volt meter reads just a little over 10.5 or so. Another thing I noticed is that when i would start the car before, the volt meter would read the same 10.5 and when it drop down pretty far before it started.
Now i did have the starter changed because the old one cracked and then a new one cracked after i tried so i just took it to a shop. they had to replace the battery because the ground wire came loose and shorted the old one out. the battery replaced it with a was an ACDelco 75-6YR...idk if that helps you any

i just got back from testing the battery and the battery tested fine. So does that just leave the alternator, starter, and wires? I'm in the process of removing the starter to run that up and have it checked
Re: Can someone please help?!?! URGENT
If you only have 10.5V when you turn the key to "run", the battery is not fully charged, or there is something draining the battery when the key is in the "off" position.
Re: Can someone please help?!?! URGENT
The battery cannot be fine with only 10.5v. That is not going to start your car. What voltage reading do YOU get when measuring across the battery terminals? A good, charged battery will measure ~12.6v. If the voltage is good, it still has to get to the car's circuits. Check cables.
Re: Can someone please help?!?! URGENT
When you jump it at the starter, the solenoid still has to function to engage the bendix and crank the engine. So, it does not look like the solenoid to me.
