Backfirng

I have a 95 Z28 LT1 with headers and true duals out the side. It started to backfire on me one day and it came to find out a plug wire was melted to the header so i changed out the plugs and wires and it fixed it and now its doing it again.. Possible distributor? im getting ready to mess with it any ideas what it could be? let me know

The loose header gasket causes that side of the engine to run excessively rich. If by "backfiring" you mean the exhaust was popping when the excess fuel ignited, that would explain it. Or, if you mean it was a true backfire, with the combustion exploding into the intake manifold, the burned wire and possible cross-firing could explain it.
