Any Idea What this noise is?
Any Idea What this noise is?
Ive got a 96 Camaro V6 soft top convertible, car runs fine
issue is, when I turn the car off there is this humming noise that stays on in the rear side of the car and it drains the battery so I have to jump it each time

Re: Any Idea What this noise is?
Powered items in rear of car - fuel pump, hydraulic top motor, auto retracting radio antenna??? Don’t know if the CD changer was available on the convertible .
Can you pin it down more clearly than “rear side”? Hydraulic pump is on driver side, fuel pump in center, power antenna (if you have that option) on passenger side.

Heres a video i uploaded of the noise:
Re: Any Idea What this noise is?
The engine was “off” for that entire video?
I've never had much luck diagnosing noises from a video. This was no exception. I'm listening on Sennheiser high end audiophile wired headphones, sounded like a small aircraft flying over.
Unplug the three things I mentioned above one at a time, and see if the noise goes away. Or pull the corresponding fuses one at a time. Here's a link to the 1996 factory service manual if you need to track down harness locations or fuses:
