a1000 pump and filter...

I bought a 96z28 about 8 months ago and it was sitting for like 2 years when I bought it. Im pretty sure it has the a1000 inline fuel pump and filter attached to a fuel sump on the tank via an fittings.

I am getting ready to put this whole car back together and I need to know what I should look out for on this fuel system. I don't even know how to completly hook it up yet since it has a fuel regulator and an lines run all the way up front. I have the an fitted fuel rails...

Anyway back on subject. Do I need to purchase a new aeromotive fuel filter or can I clean the one that is on there. Do I need all new o-rings? Does the pump need to be looked at? I don't know if there is fuel or not in the tank but there might be meaning everything has been sitting in this fuel for almost 3 years.

I have some things in my shopping cart on summit so I would like to know asap so I can place a single order. Should I buy a new fuel filter at least and the 10 pack of o-rings?

Thanks in advance!

EDIT: Sorry meant to put this in fuel and ignition....It is for an LT1 though

is it the big like 2 inch round filter or an inch one? the big one has a metal mesh filter inside of it that can be cleaned, that one should be mounted before the pump, there should be a smaller one with a paper filter in there to get the rest of the smaller stuff, if you have a A1000 regulator the an lines on the fuel rail would go back into the side ports on the regulator and the bottom fitting is for the return back to the tank, after 3 years of sitting it might not be a bad idea to replace the O rings there not expensive, the big filter would have 2 -10 on there the pump has 2 -10 and hte regulator has 2 -10 and one -8 if I remember right.

Thanks for the help. I have the 2inch one i beleive. It has to be larger than an inch. its albout half the size of the fuel pump. I don't see a paper one but I will look some more.

Yea mine is the 2" one. I have the a1000pump and 2" filter. Is that all I should have? It looks like the guy has the sump at the bottom run from the tank to the filter to the pump and then up front. The return line is not attached at the sump but at the top of the tank. The sump has like 3 connection points but two have no an fittings just a bolt.

Quick question, the previous guy ran a super charger...I will be running only n20 and not even right away. I know this fuel system is overkill for my setup but will I be able to keep it on there with no issues?

you should put a finer filter after the pump you dont want to get any junk to an injector and clog one up. I have mine under the hood so its easy to get to to check. the return line should run back to the top of the tank, I used my stock feed line for the return back.

you will need the aeromotive controller # 16302 that will hook up to the tach signal wire and cut the voltage to the pump when your not at WOT that way you dont over heat the pump and boil the fuel.

Thanks for your help Lethal.

I checked out your website...awesome just awesome :P

How is that PA k-member holding up? I was thinking about getting one but because it was so much cheaper than BMR's and such I didn't know if it was any good.

the car isnt running yet, I put the K member in last year and its still sitting there, I had a lot of problems with PA even getting the right one, I ordered a 4th gen LT1 solid mount K member in red, First one they sent me was a black third gen one, I sent that one back and they sent me a new one, that one had the regular mounts on there so I sent that one back third one looked right but I decided to mock everything up, Im glad I did, I just sat my block in there and here the clam shells for the motor mounts were to big the motor wouldnt go down far enough to get the bolt in there, I finally said screw it this one is bolted in I wasnt about ready to take it back out, I cut the mount out and welded in my own i made up. spend the couple extra bucks and get a spohn one there putting gussets in there and even have the mounts for the brake lines on there. if I had the money id be pulling it back out to put one of steve spohns in there

Well thats good to know. Sounds like both of our cars have been sitting a while!

Im on vacation next week and will be attemping to put things together. There are a lot of things im unsure about that I wont find out until I attempt to piece it all together. I have a fully built th400 also but I dont even know if it has a trans brake or not lol. I'll take some photos later of my setup.

not many people put trans brakes into a trans when there built, I put one in mine knowing that it was only 200 bucks more when I had it built over 800 bucks later to pull everything back out and drill the case for the wire later one down the road.
