94Z won't start

Need some help with my project car!

Stock 94Z

I bought this basket case from another guy so don't know much about history. Motor and tranny(auto) was rebuilt bout 20k miles ago.

She won't start. During my tinkering, I found a capped vacuum line on manifold that went to my opti(discovered I have a different opti versus stock). All I did was hook the vacuum line from opti to intake manifold port with filter and now it won't start. I also replaced some vacuum lines. I triple checked all connections and they are good

I didn't have pressure at rails so i replaced regulator. That fixed that issue. I tried priming it by turning ignition on/off three times prior to cranking and no luck. I pulled out my plug to ensure I have spark and that's good. I don't have a scanner to check for codes. If I can get her started, I can get her to the shop to scan it.
Bluf-I have fuel and spark, why won't she start?

The 94 didn't have a vacuum vent for the Opti. If someone added a vented Opti, you have to hook it up correctly. There should be a line from the intake elbow to the Opti to supply filtered air that has oassed through the MAF sensor (air ends up in the combustion chamber). Then the vacuum line to the intkae manifold needs the flow limiter and check valve to prevent sucking in the cap due to excessive vacuum.

If you hooked up full vacuum, with nothing on the air supply nipple at the Opti, there's a good chance you may have pulled water, oil or foreign material into the Opti.

The scan is important, because if the optical cam postion sensor in the Opti is not producing the low resolution pulse signal, the PCM shuts down the fuel system. The loss of low res pulse sets a code (DTC 16) but it doesn't turn on the SES light.

You can scan it with a laptop, free download diagnostic software, and a cable.:

Re: 94Z won't start

Thanks for the info. I see that I am missing the filter/flow reducer that is next to the opti.

So the possibility now exists that liquid got into the opti. What testing can I do to confirm if that happened?

What is the filter/flow reducer? I have not heard of that or as your describing.
