94Z idles but will not rev, towed home

So I was out for a drive yesterday and about 70 miles into it, I was coasting down a hill and my car died. No biggie... I thought. I started it back, ran for a few seconds, started it back again and died once more. Now, on one of those dies the car sounded pretty chattery, at the end of the leg it sounded like the valves chattered pretty good for about a second or so.

Anyhow, I found a spot to drift and park, sat there a few minutes and tried to start it. It would hit every now and then, sometimes it would start and idle for a bit, but when i'd give a little gas it would cut out and die (like starving for fuel). But as soon as i gave it some throttle it would die no matter how much or how little throttle I gave it.

So after getting towed home last night, today i go out there and try to start it a few times, finally fires right up and idles ok, a little rough/shakey around 2200-2500 rpm, but it seems normal. After letting it idle and putting around the apartment complex some, i went and washed it off a bit and gave the car a quick air dry.

So, i know something is wrong but i do not know what I tried to scan it but my laptop will not sync with the pcm.

What do yall think? Some people have told me it's the fuel pump, the whole starving for fuel thing it did yesterday reminds me of my 91RS when the fuel filter was stopped up. But could it be anything shady with the wiring? I noticed a few times yesterday on a downshift the spedo would jump about a few mph (5-10).

whaddya think!?

I think you need to check the fuel pressure with a test gauge.

My car was doing the same thing and when I had the GM dealship check it out it was the distributor. Mine would idle sometimes and when you gave it gas it would die. Sometimes the problem would even go away for a short time. Then it just went completely out at once. I sagest getting it checked out before you get out and break down again and have another tow bill.
