94 z28...what could cause this?

I got in the car the other day, started up just fine, was on my way to work and it just died in the middle of the road, after i held the key down a few seconds it started..its been doing this every since..it runs fine right after it starts then within minutes it starts having like a delayed throttle response of about half a second, idles real low when just sitting in gear and loss of power..the SES light came on but i havent had time to get it scanned, just wanting to see if any of yall had an idea of what it might be that i could check..and its a 94 lt1 with CAI, underpullies, injectors, and i think after market heads, but im not sure because ive only had it about a month..

Sounds like a coil to me, I'd start with putting an Ohm meter across the primary and secondary coil on it and see if you're in the ballpark resistance you should be.

Shoebox has a page on how to swap a stock coil for an MSD, http://shbox.com/coil/coil.html

If the coil tests good, I'd look at the ICM next, you can take it to any Autozone and they can hook it up to the tester and see if it's good. 93-95 should be a part# DR174 and 96+ should be a DR175 if memory serves..

Makes more sense to scan it than to guess.
