Post Writing Report on Superchargers: Need Help

Hi, I'm writing a report for my school on what I need to Supercharge an engine. If you have any info these three topics, please input your vast knowledge.

1. What is the cheapest, safest way to supercharge, what is a safe amount of boost on a stock engine.

2. What is the most expensive way to supercharge, what do I need to get the maximum boost out of my engine.

3. What is the median, not expensive, but enough to notice significant power.

Thanks for your input, it's greatly appreciated.

That is a really broad topic. For the questions you asked, You need to narrow it down to a specific engine.

The answers to your questions will all be different depending on weather you are carb'd or EFI.

Are you talking Centrifugal blowers, or roots?

The biggest determining factor of how much boost you can run will be compression ratio of the engine. The lower the compression, the more boost you will be able to run.

Second will be the strength of the pistons, followed by the rest of the rotating assembly.

Then you have intercooling, weather it's air to air, or air to water, H20/alky injection, propane injection.

Okay, I'm talking about a centrifugal blower.

Not sure what carb'd or efi means.

I'm talking about an application on my 1997 Camaro RS.

Compression, I'm not to sure about that, give me some insight on that.

I'm reffering to stock pistons, then aftermarket pistons.

Yes an aftercooler will be an application, and I'm going to write using air to air.
