what kind of crank pulley/ balancer are you guys running?

now that im geting this engine together i want to buy a new balancer. should i go with a oe replacement or aftermarket. WHAT would be the best choice. im running an eagle balanced rotationg assembly, mcleod steel flywheel and a d1sc 15# pulley. should i buy the expensive ATI balancer or will stock be just fine for that i want to do. i dont think ill have a problem with the stock one because everything is balanced but since you guys have the experience im open to all sugestions. thanks

If it's a street car, I'd probably clean and coat the stocker and call it a day. The ATI balancer is a nice piece, and it's SFI approved to like 8 seconds in the 1/4 or something. If you've got a spare $400 bucks, go ahead and get the ATI.

I will be making the swap to the ATI super damper soon as well... I've heard very good things about it.

ATI, but you only need one if you are running above 6,000rpm.

I am still running the stock balancer without any problems. I shift my car at 6200 rpm.

i had a fluid damper. key word "had" until it came apart on the end of the crank. split at the keyway. switched to ati no problems to 7k.

I shift at 6500, which is my reasoning for the ATI.

same here with my fluidampr. cracked at the keyway. if you are gonna spend the money on the ATI, you may just have em send you the custom BBC OD ATI custom balancer. ID is SBC but OD is BBC. 5 times thicker hub for strength where most crack. about the same cost i believe and is most blowproof. lots of stress on the keyway groove with a big blower application. would require some mod to the cover for BBC seal. not a big deal though. just a thought for some added stability (especially if you are not double keying). lots never have problems, but if your gonna spend the $$ get the thicker hub. just my 2 cents.
