At what boost level are 6" rods going to be too long?
At what boost level are 6" rods going to be too long?
The conventional wisdom says that with the deck height in the LT-X motors, running a 6" rod pishes the rings so far to the top of the piston that the top land is a reliability issue under boost. (or nitrous for that matter)
Presumably, 2 pounds of boost would be a non-issue.
By the same token, 20 pounds would be a serious concern.
This begs the question; at what boost level does a 6" rod and it's corresponding spring pack issues become enough of a reliability concern to warrant moving down to a 5.85"(or shorter) rod?
I know there is no hard and fast answer to a question like this, but that's OK. Educated opinions and bitter experience are fine by me.
