Vortech S-trim

That indicates I was only making about 680 fwhp.

Regardless of boost pressure, 1,000cfm will not produce more than ~650-700hp in a typical 2-valve OHV V-8 and will usually produce less. If you try to spin the SC faster, you will heat the air more and take more power to drive the impeller. The result will be more boost pressure but less hp. You made less hp with a higher output blower due to a lower VE. As you suggest, your boost was probably higher. Another way to look at it is as follows. What do you think would happen if you put an S-trim on an NA Pro Stock motor? It would decrease horsepower and would decrease manifold pressure (increase vacuum), not increase it! This is because the motor is already moving far more than 1,000cfm, probably in the range of 2,000+cfm.
I don't know anything about LJ's combo, but he must have some awesome heads, etc. to get that kind of hp out of an S-trim. I stand by my generalizations non-withstanding. An exception does not negate the rule.

Notice on Vortech's compressor map that they did not run the compressor all the way to stonewall. Based on the curves, and the fact that none of them nosedive, stonewall is probably around 85 - 90 lb/min, which equates to way over 650 hp. I think that their rating is more of a fuzzy "what most people can expect" number.

Blown69nova - my s-trim only has 2,000 street miles on it. what are you going to do with your Procharger? interested in some kind of trade/deal? i like the noise they make. my s-trim is the newer design and has the quiter gears in it so you only hear a little whistle.
Re: Vortech S-trim
The compressor map doesn't take into account intercooling. I think the S-trim has way more potential than people think.
If you want a quiet unit, the V2 S-trim would be perfect. It should be able to run tens with a nicely built motor. It is capable of 680 hp per vortech, but this is only on paper and no intercooler. I have this blower and it has performed very well. FYI, you can hear it, it's not silent.
The other supercharger unit I thought of is the Paxton Novi 2000. I think it's too big to fit in the f-body engine compartment, and they never offered an f-body kit, so you would have to fab up a custom bracket. The mustangs run these.
