Twin 76mm on a LT1?

Has anybody ever put twin 76mm on a lt1 before? I am sure that turbos that big would be more than any LT1 block could handle if you really pushed them. I am just wondering how a 383ci motor would spool the turbos. I have 2 PTE 76gts turbos with the .96ar. I just wonder if they would lag to much and not spool well. Any thoughts? I already have most all the parts to put this together. It is going to be my winter project and I plan on making a build thread with lots of pics if I go through with it.

Tiago in Houston put two 76mm on his street purposed LSx T/A. It reputedly puts out about 1,300hp. It murders his transmissions. I think the last time I spoke to him, he'd killed six T56 transmissions. He now has a purpose built TH400 but it's a tough compromise to have a street car in the expanses of Houston (normal commute from one side of Houston to the other on the tollway is still 45 minutes with no traffic!) that uses a transmission without an overdrive. Big Rick(another Houstonian) put a 90mm on his T/A LT1 that went 8's in the quarter in bad air (High humidity) so the LT1 can hold it fine. All an LT1 is , is a SBC with Reverse cooling. It has no more inherent weakness than a traditional SBC and those things have run astonding HP for decades.

Keep us posted on your progress. I know it's an excess to have that much HP on the street but that's why we all wish we could do it

This is true, LT1s are just not much more than a traditional SBC. If I was going to build a old school small block I would have the option of starting with a stronger aftermarket block. I just wonder how much a factory block will take. I am also wondering if the 76s with a .96ar will be to much to spool quickly. From the research I have done it seems guys with 350+ cubic inches tend to run a .68 or .81 ar for a faster spool. I guess I will just have to try it out and see how it does.

A 1500+ hp 383 would spool two 76mm turbos just fine.

OK but you wouldn't have the 1500 hp unless you were able to spool up the two 76 mm turbos

he should add a 300 shot of nitrous

You'd need an extreme motor to actually use two thousand-HP turbos.
Your average built-383 would take like 30psi of boost to get there...
Possible? yes. Completely ridiculous? yes.

No its a street car, and the system is actually one of your single 76 kits modified. There is no way I am going to be able to push these turbos to their maximum capability. I just want more power than a single 76 can give so why not slap another one on there?

Yes ridiculous, but wouldn't a potentially 8 second street driven LT1 be sweet?

Personally I would look into selling the 76s and stepping up to a single T6 in the 90mm+ range.

Single 76 header kit. I used to have another name on here. I never got that build finished because I got laid off from work. Now that I have a new job and am starting to get back to work on the car, all my friends are way faster. Now I have to try and play catch up. That is just life I guess.

Yeah I thought about that. I have a few friends with big 90mm+ singles. Wicked cars, but I have always wanted to say I have a twin turbo camaro.
