Turbos for LT1

Are STS the only guys that build a turbo for the LT1 engines? Anyone else make one for a 96 LT1?

Don't have any experience with these but they look well made. Quite a bit mroe expensive than an STS. Another benefit of an STS is when/if you have to smog your car again it can be removed with relative ease.

ohio boost has a good rep but I have never dealt with them myself.

All my stuff is being home made. Was going to use a set of shorty headers but ditched that and am building logs now. I'll post some of my stuff up soon. Seems most people are building their own these days.

I don't know how you guys mod cars in CA and get away with it. Seems like if you have anything on the car they get you.

Not being a Turbo guy, I don't know specific companies, but I venture to say that if you try a search, you will find several as I know for a fact there's many more than just the STS available for the LT1.

On LS1tech, Ohio Boost has a bad rep. Just look in the sponsor feedback section and forced induction sections... key word "Joel". He makes nice stuff, but timely deliveries and no communication with customers is becoming a huge problem.

Companies:

TTi
STS
PTS

There is a thread a few down from yours about a PTS kit being installed right now. Now install pics or directions, and stuff isnt fitting together right.

TTi makes a very limitted LT1 kit... probably max out at about 500-550rwhp max.

STS - rearmount... everyone knows the drawbacks.

PTS kit will make the most power out of those 3 kits.

There are also custom kits...

Whatever you decide, go with a front mounted Turbo. Much better quality, and potential power thant the STS.

Thanks for the input...I'll research those companies. It seems like for the LT1 engines, it's either Vortech or ProCharger superchargers or STS turbo...that's all that our supporting vendors carry. I'm rather go turbo then supercharger, since my engine is mostly stock (upgraded valvetrain), and I hear turbos work better on a stock cam, where supercharger like cams designed for them.

Again, need to do a bunch of research before I move to forced induction.

You'll also need to upgrade your bottom end if you plan on running any moderate amount of boost.

I did alot of research on this. PTS and Ohio Forced Inductions seem to be pretty close in cost and quality. You can't go wrong with either. Pm me if you want me to send you some of the info I researched. I don't have it on me, but can get it next week. Good luck!

What kind of daily driver stuff did you have to sacrifice to get those in there? That is one badazz looking (and I'm sure running) setup!

The a/c is the only thing not on the car. Car was a 6spd forever and didnt have problems with it. I did finish the intercooler pipes ill take pics later and show ya. I got a 4l80e in the car now so it should rip down the track

Don't factor in the stock cam when deciding between turbo's and superchargers. The stock cam will work equally okay with a turbo and s/c. There are many more, much more significant things to factor into the decision than use of the stock cam.
