I have been looking at the Camaro board for some time now. There has never been a shortage of guys on here that are willing to go all out and experiment. My buddy also frequents this board and has a 97 Fbody, he really tipped me toward this forum. Anyway, I just got off the phone with Jet Hot Coatings and they will coat inside and out with the 2000 series. He gave me a "rough" quote for two short headers and crossover tube of $260.00. A turbine housing will run another $100 and that is coating the outside only. I also ordered some piping via Schoenfeld headers.

For you guys with turbo's, here is another question. My turbo has a turbine outlet of 3" I.D. and a 3 1/2" O.D. and is made for a V-Band. Would I order a 3" clamp? I would also like to step up to 3 1/2" pipe, do they have a 3" to 3 1/2" V-band or do I just use a pipe "reducer"? Sorry so long.

hey MN, and Antivenom,

Yeah the vette forum is great, and i know eventually it will continue to grow with the outcast experimenters, but for now there are many more experienced and un affraid modders to talk to and help grow from here on the camaro board.. also, LS1tech is another great forum to read and post too... I have found information from both that the rest of the clan on the CF Forum has likely been hunting for! in about a year or two i think all will be better and more will post to our FI corner on the forum.. 400+ RWHP is just not so impressive anymore is it!! LOL Oh well.

as for thre V-band clamps, I am also very interested.. I would put a call in to Turbonetics and get the skinny from the guys who build the turbo.. could save you some money in the long run!

the Jet Hot oatings are very good, I have had two sets of headers done by them and thye hold up 10 to 1 better then the OEM Hooker coatings.. I buy the uncoated and send them off for the Jet Hot coatings since the first few sets I had chipped flaked and rusted down around the collectors... 3 years on a Jet coating and they still shine from primary to collector!!!! Hard to beat a real world comparison test! under hood temps were much lower with the coated applications as well!

Good luck and please shoot me some pics.

MN,

have you scoped the possibility of a larger turbo then the 60-1 down where your header had it mounted? and are you going to run the crossover under the front portion of the oil pan? this is where i have been running my flexi mock up piping and i think it will fit fine. I amthinking of using a slightly flattened crossing pipe to allow for some more clearance and to have an air gapped heat shield between the pipe and oil pan with some high temp insulation to keep any excess heat out of the sump. let me know what ya think!

Chris,

I believe there is enough room to get a T series turbo down there. But I'm waiting until I actually get things running before I go out and buy one.

As for the crossover pipe I'm planning on using 2 1/4" - 2 1/2"pipe which should have plenty of room around the front of the oil pan. I think with the amount of airflow under the car the heat transfere should be minimal, especially if you get it coated. I think flattening the pipe will not be needed.

I'm really stoked about getting this project back up in the air again. Especially since the Banks people don't seem to be comming through for anyone. I just need to get the rear end and tranny back into the car so I can level the engine and start building pipes.

No one really sells twin headers, so you either have to learn how to weld or contact a custom exhaust fabricator, and prepare to pay big bucks!

I can't believe it, I ordered my piping from Schoenfeld on friday around 4pm and a very large box of piping showed up today! That was fast! and there is alot of it, way more than I will ever use!
