Turbo Engine Buildup

I have been thinking about taking out a loan to turbocharge my car. The only thing I need to figure out is how much it would need to be. I like the PTK kits and would likely order that one. My main question is though; how much would it cost to put in the appropriate rods and pistons for a boosted application? I have heard our stock crank will hold up fine, is that true? Any info you can give me on this subject matter will be GREATLY appreciated.

The stock crank is supposed to be good for around 500 RWHP. H-Beams are around 350.00 and some good pistons will run you 500.00 to 800.00.

Re: Turbo Engine Buildup

Would the stock cam be adequate until a later time or should I go ahead and do that at the same time too scince the block would be out of the car? I'm sure I would need a new fuel pump and injectors too. Are there any other engine parts I'm over looking for this?

First, what are your power goals?? Personally I would change the cam while you are in there. Total pain in the a** to do it afterwards. And in order to get some real power out of that thing a turbo cam is essential! Also, plan on extra funds for the fuel system, turbo itself, boost controller of some sort. If you are gonna take the leap to a turbo cam, I would at least have some head work done. No sense in putting in a cam only to bottleneck the boost at the heads. Nothing too crazy, just a good port and polish and some bowl work on the stock castings. And of course head studs. I just look at this from a perspective of how many times do you really want to tear your motor down. I want to do it as few times as possible. FYI, PTK is awesome!!! YOu will love your kit. Just make sure your engine build will support future greed for HP! Good luck.

How much power are you looking to make. Our kits can go from mild to wild, so you need to build the engine accordingly.

Please do not take a loan to mod. Horrible move.

Yes save save save then buy it free and clear. You will be shackled by your loan for years to come, I estimate to do motor and turbo plus essentials will be at least 12000.
