survey - SC max hp on racetronix fuel pump
I'd like to take a survey of how much hp people have dynoed with a Racetronix single in tank kit - with the wiring and all. I'm most interested in supercharged guys who are not running FMU's - so as to keep the fuel pressure down and fuel flow up. If not quoting dynojet numbers please specify type of dyno.
When I was fuel pump shopping I used the following formula:
(HP)*(BSFC)*(1+safety margin) = lb/hr
Walbro 340 @ 13.5v:
50 psi: 246 lph
60 psi: 231 lph
Doing a little algebra and converting from lb/hr to lph:
HP = lph / (BSFC*safety margin*0.522)
So if I use a BSFC of 0.6 and a safety margin of 1.2 (20%) and assuming 245 lph if I run approx 7 psi boost:
HP = 245/0.37584 = 652 hp
I would be happy with this number.
Thanks,
Joe

I have the racetronix kit (255 pump and racetronix wiring harness) and it will safely do 14psi on my 355 (approx 550RWHp). Since I've added the Kenne Belle BAP I have done 20 psi and a little more with no problem. Stock fuel lines, 72 lb injectors.
And if I drop the 20% safety margin then I get 782 hp. So the question really is - what is the fuel flow rate up at the fuel rail? I'd obviously be happy if it was less than 20%.... Thanks for the answers so far guys. Guess I'll find out for sure when I strap this puppy on. I don't know what kind of boost it will make with my combo and the standard pulleys, so I don't know what hp I'll end up with.
Joe
