sts turbo tuning
i plan on installing an sts turbo on my 2001 ss. i got a qoute for $8200 for installation and tuning. i think its a little pricey and i want to install it my self. the installation will be cake for me but im clueless when it comes to the tuning. what do i need to know to get the most out of my set up and avoid blowing my ss to pieces?

I'll fly to wherever Gen4lvr is and install it for half of what they want to charge him
Ha Ha. I did a sts kit on a srt10 truck with methanol injection, roe vec 3 controller, tuning(exotic performance plus) This was the first kit out there and the first tune ever for one and i think i only charged 10k. I think the kit was 7000 from sts. They might be doing something more for the 8200. Sts sells a handheld programmer with a tune on it already so you can install the parts themselves and drive it away. I am a sts dealer and i would buy the kit from a local dealer and install it yourself and use the programmer. They are awesome kits and you would not be dissapointed. I would recommend that you get it programmed by a good tuner.
Your stock fuel pump needs to be upgraded, If you want to have any boost. If you want to run it past 5500rpms you better add some upgraded pushrods and springs. I would do all of that first!!!
pushrods $100?
springs/retainers$250?
fuel pump $250?
Then you have things that you should buy
fuel pressure gauge $200
wideband $200 or more
Then by the time you get all that, i hope that you have been saving for a trany upgrade.. GOOD LUCK, keep us posted!!
