I have a 93 z28. I purchased a real ram air hood off a 97ss. I bought a aftermarket air box making this hood fully functional. This car has no maf only a air temp sensor in the elbow. Car runs perfect around town all day no issues but when I get on the freeway after cruising for about 15 mins the check engine soon light comes on. I can shut the car off n start it again and it's fine. I havnt had the code read yet since I dont have a obd1 scanner. Do you think adding the hood and ss air box is causing this even tho the 93 has no maf? Or is this just coincidence of something else goin bad just as I added this setup?

 

You don’t need a code reader or scanner to pull codes on a 93.
