Re: Opinions on PTK turbo kit

Nick, I went with the Turbosmart e-Boost electronic boost controller. It is a very high tech and proven product. THey are about $400, so if you dont have the budget just get a manual one for the time being. The fuel pump you can get from jose. The injectors would be something you will need to discuss with him. He is very informative and will also be able to supply you with some high quality ones. I would recommend running a wideband o2 of some sort. Innovative makes one that I have heard good things about. Oh yeah, fyi, jose has a 4th gen with a PTK kit on it, although his is extremely modded. I wouldnt run the MSD, just get a LTCC which converts the ignition from a single coil to the LS1 coil per cylinder and no longer uses the optispark for distibution of spark. So this means no more headaches unless the optical sensor fails(very rare). YOu can get the coils on ebay and the LTCC @ www.bailey-eng.com . This setup is ultra realiable. Also, later I would consider a methanol injection kit when you want to turn up the boost. Just talk with jose and he will steer you in right direction.

That's pushing the limits of a stock motor as it is. You want more power build the motor to take more boost. I would be ecstatic with 420-450rwhp with a stock motor.

5.0this is right. 450rwhp on a stock buttom end lt1 is pushing limits of being safe. 2 bolt main, Hyperuntentic pistons and stock rods, bearings + lots of miles= not a good combination to try to push more power out of it. Also it depends on what turbo he will be using ast PTK has some options 70mm/76mm i think theres one more but i cant recall a 70 should put you deep into the 10s and well over 600rwhp.

Re: Opinions on PTK turbo kit

hey guys i decided to just go the supercharged way, most likely the procharger. I decided a turbo setup is a little out of my budget range at this time. plus i dont know how easy it would be to make that huge intercooler fit under the bumper, i really dont wanna have to cut into the car or do anything that isnt irreversible (correct me if its not as hard im thinking it will be). but anyways if i get the procharger what else will i need to go along with it that isnt inclduded in the kit?? do i need injectors or a dif fuel pump?? any input is appreciated. thanks again,
Nick

Re: Opinions on PTK turbo kit

The intercooler is not that hard to fit at all. One thing to keep in mind is that is it better to spend 5000.00 now and reach a ceiling in a year or so or spend 6000.00 and have something that will carry you much farther.
