new F.I?

i just thought of a simple concept one day when i was working with my dad. What if you were to have an air compressor in the back seat (just to try it) power it to your battery and turn the psi up to maybe 6-9 cause you can change it on an air compressor to what ever you want. have the air hose lines go to the intake elbow and at the intake elbow, have two 90 degree elbows going in on both sides (cause its a dual thottle body) and turn it on at full throttle to have the air shoot right in? does this concept sound like it can work or just a stupid idea? thanks - Tank

Re: new F.I?

If it were that simple it would have been done. Think about it.

Think about this... you have to be able to PRESSURIZE the air into the motor. Therefor the air tank would have to be the sole feed of air.

Second. PSI does not matter (necessarily). CFM matters. You think that little air hose is going to feed the motor enough CFM stock let alone enough to pressurize it? No.

Simple answer... No.

You'd need a few thousand cubic feet of air at those pressures with very high flowing capabilities to make it worth it. That's alot of air to haul around.

And just in case you are wondering, air gets heavy under pressure.

If you want to pressurize the air going into the motor, you have to keep it IN the intake. You can't pressurize the intake with a wide open path out the air intake and air filter. This would work if you had a large pressurized tank with a large pipe going to the intake plenum, then you would turn the valve and close the throttle blades at the same time. Or you could just use Nitrous.
